| Writer's Prayer - September 2010 |
|
Holy Father God, we come to You in the name of Jesus, our Shepherd King. We love to pray, “The Lord is my shepherd …” (Psalm 23:1). Speaking those words fills us with awe and bows us low before Your throne. We are stunned that You, Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord of all Galaxies, would set aside Your glory with Father and step down from Your majesty into the cesspool of our lives. You laid aside Your powerful scepter of authority and chose a shepherd’s rod and servant’s staff to rescue us. You searched until You found us, filthy and broken, then You gathered us into Your arms and hugged us close, whispering endearments, until Your love made us whole. We are ever grateful, Lord. Thank You. |

2009 OCW Summer Conference In ReviewPatricia Rushford - OCW Summer Conference Director - This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it Treasures in Jars of Clay with Lisa SamsonThe summer conference was one of our hottest ever. We had record attendance, lovely surroundings, good food. Plus, we had more editors and agents than ever before, excellent coaches and workshop presenters, inspirational keynoters, and outstanding times for worship, networking, and friendships. We also had record temperatures, reaching at times over 106 degrees. It all came together for four exceptional days at Canby Grove Conference Center, July 27–31. Editors and agents loved our conference, saying that you, dear OCW members, are among the most professional and well-prepared conferees they have ever seen. They bought and we sold. Among the highlights and praises from our conferees were the accessibility to editors and agents; our new and improved Walk-In Center; our conference pastor, Tom Fuller; as well as the emphasis on prayer and worship. Tom brought a sense of unity to the conference with morning devotions and evening vespers. Because of him and our prayer team, we had a strong spirit of love and unity with the Lord. Most negative responses concerned the hot weather and not enough air-conditioning, but we persevered and can now say we truly had the hottest conference on record.
My assistant, Sue Miholer, and I want to especially thank our conference team. Their time and efforts graciously offered make our OCW Summer Conference one of the best in the country. The team is already working on the 2010 summer conference. Thank you for the comments on your evaluations this year. We definitely look at all of them and use the information there to make each successive conference even better. Next year, Bill Myers, who writes for adults as well as for teens and children, will be our keynoter. As a writer/producer, he has won more than 40 national and international awards. His books and videos have sold over eight million copies. The dates of the conference are August 2–5, 2010, at Canby Grove Conference Center. Please plan to join us. |
