Written by Petey Prater, OCW Prayer Co-Coordinator

Several years ago, God impressed Eva Gibson and me in prayer that He intended to take OCW up the mountain. Biblical mountains are holy. Moses was told to sanctify himself and meet God on Sinai. Overshadowed by God’s glory, Moses heard God’s words, understood His vision and will, and obeyed. When Moses came down the mountain and shared the Ten Commandments, mankind was forever changed. If OCW meets God’s mountain-climbing criteria, the Truth-Word God gives us will also change people forever.

Last fall, another OCW intercessor shared with Eva and me that God had shown her that He desires to take OCW up the mountain of influence. On that high place, He will give us His words and we will throw those sparks of light into a dark world. Everywhere the Word lands, there will be an explosion of radiant light. By that light, people lost in darkness will see and respond to Christ and find eternal life.

To ascend God’s mountain will require unity and holiness. The climb will be steep. (See Psalm 24:3–4.) We will have to push and pull each other up the mountain. If OCW members accept the challenge to come away with God and climb, it will be as much a test as a privilege. Pastor Bill Hybels says, “The way up is down.” Are we willing to humble ourselves to obtain a state of complete surrender before the Lord? What baggage will we have to leave behind? What priorities will have to change? God does not give His best for cheap.

Beloved, let us sanctify ourselves and ascend together in holiness and unity. We dare not fail our God. The world is dying for lack of the Word. We hold Christ in our pens.
