Holy Father God, we come to You in the name of Jesus, our Shepherd King. We love to pray, “The Lord is my shepherd …” (Psalm 23:1). Speaking those words fills us with awe and bows us low before Your throne. We are stunned that You, Omnipotent, Omniscient Lord of all Galaxies, would set aside Your glory with Father and step down from Your majesty into the cesspool of our lives. You laid aside Your powerful scepter of authority and chose a shepherd’s rod and servant’s staff to rescue us. You searched until You found us, filthy and broken, then You gathered us into Your arms and hugged us close, whispering endearments, until Your love made us whole. We are ever grateful, Lord. Thank You. |

Isaiah 49: 15b, 16a “…they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” “Behold I have graven thee upon the palm of my hands.” We go through deep mire at times when it’s easy to forget that God the Father holds us, even writes our names in the palm of His hand. In the midst of difficulty, it’s hard to remember. Especially when we read in the paper the sad account of a mother and her child dying after being swept into a rain-swollen stream… …or when a young father in his 30s succumbs to a brain tumor, …or a nephew is suddenly diagnosed with the dread “C” disease. …when a child or grandchild gets in serious trouble… or when a business reversal results in your position being terminated. At those times, may God the Holy Spirit reveal to us, even more, the truth that God the Father does not change. If God says our names are etched, tattooed, graven in His palm, and that He will never forget us, we can believe it. We can rest in that fact. We are able to sink down into the comfort of being as close as breathing to our Father’s love. Yahweh … May I call you that? Makes me feel serious, full of worship, not only giving casual greeting to a god among other gods, but to the Chief, Premier, head of, the One and Only. ![]() I’m honored to be one of yours, a follower, cherished, redeemed, bought by your Son’s blood, yet called your friend, O mighty Yahweh! … by gail denham May we have peace thinking of Divine Hands so large that the names of all His children are inscribed on His palms. |
